A 59-year-old man's selfless act of organ donation at Naruvi Hospitals in Vellore has offered a new lease on life to at least five individuals, highlighting the profound impact of altruism in a critical healthcare landscape. The deceased, identified as Mr. S. Somasundaram from Tiruvannamalai, was admitted to the hospital following a severe brain hemorrhage. This remarkable donation involved the retrieval of vital organs, including the heart, liver, kidneys, and corneas. The harvested heart was transported to Fortis Malar Hospital in Chennai, while the liver was allocated to Kauvery Hospital in Tiruchi. The kidneys were successfully transplanted to recipients within Naruvi Hospitals itself, and the corneas were sent to Aravind Eye Hospital.
